Recovering from Dragon Con

  • Listening to: Abney Park - how very stereotypically Steampunk
  • Reading: Integral Psychology - Ken Wilber
  • Watching: Supernatural (season premiere this week!)
  • Eating: granola bar
  • Drinking: Water
We are still recovering from the wonderment that is Dragon Con. Met some cool folks at the Steampunk meetup and learned a lot. Working with leather these days and I'm eager to work some more. The holsters I made are pretty good but I know I can do much better with more time and patience. Once my funds have regenerated a bit I'm buying a new Dremil bit for cutting brass.

No problem, just curious what did you make your staff out of for the Athena costume? Wonderflex?

No, Wonderflex is way to unstable (bends a crap load) for the staff. I use a thin plastic from Home Depot. I cut the shape out of card board and then traced it on the plastic. Though I wouldn't recommend this... When I was traveling the airlines threw my bag a bunch and broke the top. I had to super glue it together for AX.

I am remaking it next month out of Resin and Sintra. I will be using both just to see what one I like the best.
